Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility
•Participants must comply with all Jahez x KIC Hackathon rules and guidelines.
•The Hackathon is open to individuals and teams. However, teams are preferred.
•Individuals may be grouped with others at the discretion of the organizers to ensure balanced team compositions and optimal participation.
•All participants must be 18 years or older.

2. Project Requirements
•Submissions must present innovative solutions that offer clear added value and directly address defined problems related to the food delivery, logistics, or F&B tech industry.
•All project submissions must be the original work of the team or individual and must not violate any intellectual property rights.
•Submitted projects must not be older than three (3) years from the date of the hackathon.
•Each participant or team may only submit one project.

3. Ownership and Intellectual Property
•All submitted entries, including winning and non-winning ideas, become the exclusive commercial property of Jahez unless a written exemption is agreed upon in advance.
•Participants must sign an IP Transfer Agreement before participating in the hackathon.
•Participants retain the right to be credited for their ideas but do not retain commercial rights unless explicitly permitted in writing by Jahez.

4. Selection and Participation
•Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the hackathon.
•KIC and Jahez reserve the right to filter applicants based on relevance, creativity, feasibility, and alignment with the Hackathon’s theme and goals.
•Final selection and team formation are at the discretion of the organizers.

5. Conduct and Bootcamp Participation
•Selected participants must commit to attending the mandatory Development Bootcamp sessions and the full 3-day Hackathon.
•Teams must participate in good faith, actively collaborate, and attend required check-ins and judging sessions.
•Any behavior deemed unprofessional or disruptive may result in disqualification.

6. Judging and Awards
•Projects will be judged based on innovation, usability, feasibility, technical quality, business potential, and alignment with Jahez's goals.
•Judges’ decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
•Cash prizes for the top three winning teams will be awarded as follows:
First Place: 3,000 KWD (Three Thousand Dinar)
Second Place: 2,000KWD (Two Thousand Dinar)
Third Place: 1,000 KWD (One Thousand Dinar)
 

7. Prize Distribution Clarification

Prizes will be distributed to the winning teams within 10 days of the Hackathon’s conclusion. Distribution will be handled via bank transfer or another agreed method, and it is the responsibility of each team to provide accurate banking details. KIC and Jahez will not be responsible for any delays caused by incomplete or incorrect information.

8. Media & Promotion Consent

By participating in the Hackathon, participants grant Jahez and KIC the right to use their names, photos, videos, and any other media captured during the event for promotional, marketing, and communication purposes in any format or medium. This includes but is not limited to: social media, press releases, and event summaries. Participants waive any rights to inspect or approve the final materials.

9. Data and Privacy
By participating, contestants consent to the use of their personal and project data for Hackathon purposes, including future communication, marketing, and possible product development by Jahez, in line with applicable data protection laws.

10. Modification and Termination
•The organizers reserve the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Hackathon in whole or in part for any reason, including but not limited to technical issues or force majeure.
•Participants will be informed of any significant changes in a timely manner.

11. Disqualification Criteria

In addition to unprofessional conduct, participants may be disqualified for the following reasons:

• Plagiarism or violation of intellectual property rights

• Failure to attend mandatory checkpoints (e.g., final presentations)

• Submission of false or misleading information during the registration or project phase

Breach of any of the outlined terms and conditions

12. Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to uphold a respectful and inclusive environment throughout the Hackathon. This includes:

• Maintaining professional and respectful communication with fellow participants, mentors, and organizers

• Zero tolerance for any form of harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior

• Demonstrating fair and honest collaboration within and across teams

• Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event.

13. Legal
•These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait.
•Any disputes will be resolved under the jurisdiction of Kuwait courts.
•By registering, participants agree to all terms set forth herein.
